What is Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program with foundations firmly established in Biblical truth. The 12 Steps with accompanying Scriptures and the 8 Principles based on the Beatitudes offer participants a clear path of salvation and discipleship; bringing hope, freedom, sobriety, healing, and the opportunity to give back one day at a time through our one and only true Higher Power, Jesus Christ. The 12 Steps and the 8 Principles work seamlessly together, tying historical recovery to timeless Biblical teaching.

Celebrate Recovery meets on Monday Evenings at our Portland Campus. Doors open at 7:00pm and the meetings start at 7:30pm.

A typical C.R. Meeting includes:

*Large Group meeting

Our Large group opens with PRAISE & WORSHIP allowing us to open our hearts to Christ and His healing. This is followed by a Teaching Lesson or a Testimony. We also read the 12 steps or 8 principles (Matthew 5 Jesus’ sermon on the mount teaching).

*Small open share groups

At Small Group, we have a place to connect with other Celebrate Recovery attendees. This is a safe place where participants can learn healthy ways to handle our life issues.

*Newcomers 101 (for the first time you attend a C.R. meeting)

Newcomers 101 is for the first-time attendees and will help you better understand what Celebrate Recovery is all about as well as provide you the opportunity to ask questions or process your feelings in a safe environment before you make a commitment to an open share group.

We show a video short ‘newcomers video’, the leader introduces him or her self, and explains how C.R. works Questions are welcomed after the Newcomers’ open share group.

You may be wondering, “Do I have to believe in God and Jesus to participate in Celebrate Recovery?” The answer is “absolutely not.” All that we ask is that you keep your heart and mind open. Outside of the group, if you ask, your leader will be happy to talk to you about what it means to make the decision to ask Christ into your life!
